Getting around Crete offers a unique experience as it stretches for 400 km from east to west and while mostly mountains the island prides itself on a 1046 km coastline. We, as GOMEGA, wish to help you make the most of your driving experience in Crete.
Starting from the west, there are large cities to drive to, such as Chania and Rethimnon, tourist resorts such as Kissamos, Paleochora, Agia Marina and Falassarna, fishing villages and lots of places of historical interest in the interior of the village to visit. The visitor will enjoy the change of scenery, the rolling hills and the olive and orange groves.
Also, visitors cannot miss travelling to East Crete with Heraklion, Agios Nikolaos, Ierapetra and Sitia, its major cities, Knossos, Festos and Gortys, the most important archaeological sites and Vai, Preveli, Matala, Chesrsonissos and Malia, the most visited seaside tourist attractions.
However, there are places in the south west and south east of the island, where there are no roads. Places like Sougia, Agia Roumeli and Loutro can be reached by local ferries. Visitors can also hire boats to visit the small islands ,Spinaloga, Dia and Chrisi.
