Rental policy

It is important to know the terms under which the rental of a car from Gomega Rentals will take place. We assure you that our fleet is made up of new cars and properly maintained to ensure you have the best tour of the island.

Age Restrictions

The age limit is 24-75 years old and the driver must have a valid driving license for at least 1 year. 

In case the driver is under 24 or more than 75 years old an extra fee is applied(10€/day), it is mandatory that they choose the Premium Insurance and the driver must be a credit card holder since we block 300€ deposit.

The same applies to the other drivers listed in the contract.

Driver's license

  • EU citizens must hold a national driving license (including citizens of Norway, Iceland, United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein), USA, Canada, Australia 
  • Albania, San Marino, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahamas, Bahrain, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Central African Republic, Chile, Costa Rica, Ivory Coast, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Georgia, Ghana, Guyana, Holy See, Indonesia , Iran (Islamic Republic), Iraq, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Mexico, Monaco, Mongolia, Montenegro, Morocco, Niger, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Republic of Moldova, Saudi Arabia , Senegal, Serbia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tajikistan, Thailand, North Macedonia, Tunisia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Uruguay, Uzbekistan, Venezuela (Bolivarian Republic), Vietnam, Zimbabwe National driving license only in the form of a credit card.

VAT 24% is always included in our prices. There are no extra charges for taxes.

Personal Data - Privacy Policy

All the personal data we receive is processed by our staff. We respect your privacy and we reassure you that all the personal information you provide us is being used only for the procedure of our services and not for any irrelevant purpose.

Kilometers

At the rental price of the car, you have the right to make as many kilometers as you want, without any extra charge.

Geographical Restrictions

The delivery and return of our company's cars can take place at any airport, harbor, hotel in Crete.Gomega's cars cannot be transported outside Crete without the written consent of the company.

Equipment offered

Gomega provides you with children's seats of all sizes for the safe transport of your family. It also provides, in case you want, GPS, in 15 different languages.

Loss or damage of key/equipment

In case the key or the GPS Navigator is lost/damaged, the charge is 150€. The charge for lost or damaged infant seat/baby seat/booster will be 50€.

Personal Belongings

The car hire company cannot be held responsible for the customer’s losing any personal belongings either left or abandoned on board.

Delivery & return of the car

A member of the company's staff will wait for you at the arrivals, holding a sign with your name on, to drive you to the car. It is important not to forget your identity card and driving license. For the return of the car a member of our staff will be waiting for you at the airport in front of the departures at the scheduled time. If there is a delay in returning the car at the time indicated on the rental contract, it is advisable to inform the company. After an hour delay, the charge is 7 euro per hour, which you are required to pay.

  • At Chania Airport we serve upon request and remotely. For this reason, the reservation must be either prepaid in full or in 30%(the remaining can be paid only in cash upon pickup). We will provide all the necessary instructions for the pickup before your arrival.

Payment methods

Gomega accepts payments via credit/debit card (Visa, Mastercard), Paypal and cash.
We do not accept the following:
  • someone else's card(from a person that is not enlisted in the agreement)
  • American Express
  • Virtual Payments

Reservations & Last Minute Reservations

In case you want to make a last minute booking you can contact us (08:00-23:00) to inform you about availability at our office. The company reserves the right, depending on the availability, to provide a different type of car to the original booking of a corresponding, or of higher category. Also only one booking per person per vehicle is allowed for the same rental conditions (dates, location, vehicle). 

In case the customer prefers a specific car model, this can be noted on the comment box and in case we have available of course we will serve with that.

Any deviation from the confirmed delivery or return hours on the voucher document may result in additional charges, a closed station or your booking being marked as a non-show customer. Please contact us for any changes. Grace period: 59 minutes. Furthermore bookings that will be served out of office working hours because of customers delay will be charged extra 20€.

Rental extension

If the customer wishes to extend the rental time, they must contact the company 48 hours before the expiration of this contract. Every hour in excess is calculated at 1/5 of daily rate.

Cancellation Policy

Partial Prepaid Bookings: The customer has the right to cancel their reservation up to 4 days before the vehicle pick up for free. In this case the costumer will be refunded the amount he has prepaid(customers get charged only with the bank expenses, around 4€). In case the customer wants to cancel a reservation of less than 4 days before the arrival, the company will not refund the payment. 

Fully Prepaid Bookings: The customer has the right to cancel their reservation up to 4 days before the vehicle pick up for free. In this case the costumer will be refunded the amount he has prepaid with a charge of 4 euros bank expenses. In case the customer wants to cancel a reservation in less than 4 days before the pick up, the company will charge the 30% and return the rest of the amount. 

In case the customer is interested in changing his original reservation, they should contact the company to consider the charge that will be added.

Also if the customer does not present the necessary documents(valid driving licence/ID/passport or credit card(needed for the Basic Insurance) the company has the right to cancel the reservation and not to refund.

Insurance 

We provide our customers two different types of insurance packages.

Option 1: Basic Full Insurance

-Collision Damage Waiver with excess: the renter has the obligation to pay for any damages caused on vehicle. The excess we offer depends on the vehicle category you have chosen. More specifically:

*In case you choose this insurance the driver must be a credit/debit card holder.The excess amount will be refunded after about 20-25 working days as long as the vehicle is returned without damages.

-Accident insurance: Personal accident insurance covers the driver and his passengers in the event of an accident.

-Third Party Liability: In the event of an accident there is coverage of up to 1.000.000€ for people. Coverage applies to property or animals.

-Theft insurance: The customer is insured in case of theft, unless the theft arises due to negligence. Stolen objects inside the car (e.g. cameras, travel bags or mobile phones) are not covered by any insurance.

-24h roadside assistance: Our insurance covers all road assistance everywhere in Crete.

-Coverage from uninsured: The insurance will cover the cost the accident cost in case the car will be damaged from a vehicle which is uninsured. 

Option 2: Premium Full Insurance:

-Collision Damage Waiver with zero excess: the renter has no obligation to pay for any damage in the event of an accident. This insurance refers to all body parts.

-Accident insurance: Personal accident insurance covers the driver and his passengers in the event of an accident.

-Third Party Liability: In the event of an accident there is coverage of up to 1.000.000€ for people. Coverage applies to property or animals.

-Theft insurance: The customer is insured in case of theft, unless the theft arises due to negligence. Stolen objects inside the car (e.g. cameras, travel bags or mobile phones) are not covered by any insurance.

-24h roadside assistance: Our insurance covers all road assistance everywhere in Crete.

-Coverage from uninsured: The insurance will cover the cost the accident cost in case the car will be damaged from a vehicle which is uninsured.

Take advantage of the benefits our Premium insurance offers and drive with no worries around Crete. Please note the “Use of vehicle” paragraph where you can find which cases are not covered by the insurance company.

Use of vehicle 

Insurance does not cover the following situations. In any of the below cases the renter is not covered by any insurance and the customer is obliged to pay for any damages that may occur.

The renter must not: 

- Pull other vehicles or objects with the car.

- Drive on dirt road, off-road (e.g. Balos), sand or water. Any damage that may happen offroad is not covered by any insurance.  No insurance covers damages tht may happen while driving offroad or on dirt road/sand/water.  Penalty for driving off road is 300€.

- Damage the under part of the car. No insurance covers damages that may occur on the undercarriage.

- Drive under the influence of alcohol or other addictive substances

- Rent the vehicle to any third party or driven by someone who is not registered in the rental agreement

- Transport dangerous or flammable objects

- Carry more people than the number indicated on the license.

- Violate traffic rules (speed limits, road directions, U-turns,Stop signs) or parking rules.

Τhe renter must always tie the vehicle’s parking brake, must not burn out the clutch or sit on car parts like roof, bonnet etc.

Αlso any damage inside the car it is not covered by any insurance and will be paid by the customer. Also if renters do not keep the vehicle’s interior as clean as when delivered they will be charged a cleaning fee of 80€.

Tyres

Tyres are not covered by any insurance. If the damage is repairable the customer is obliged to fix it and pay for it. If the tyre is not repairable the customer has the obligation to pay for both tyres on the axle.

Offers & Discounts

You can purchase an offer only if it is available online. The 5% discount applies to rentals over 200€.

Fuel Policy

-Return as collected: the vehicle should be returned with the same fuel delivered since we believe this is the fairest policy. This information will be included in the rental contract. Otherwise, there will be a charge based on the current fuel price.

Fines

The driving of the hired vehicle must be carried out in accordance with the Greek Law (illegal parking, speed limits etc) as applicable each time. Otherwise, the customer is held liable for causing problems concerning road safety and fines for illegal parking, speed limits etc. In case costumers wants Gomega to pay the fine on their behalf an extra fee of 25€ is applied.

Vehicle Condition 

The vehicle is delivered to the customer in good condition and free of visible defects. Any complaints must be submitted before the departure of the vehicle. During the rental period the renter is obliged to protect the car and the condition of the tyres. In case a car transport platform is necessary to collect the car from a dirt road/off road area or if the battery is dead because of renter’s fault (e.g. forgot to turn off the lights) the cost is 100€. 

In case of a damage which does not affect the function of the car e.g. broken window (rear and side windows) the customer has to drive to Gomega’s office to change the vehicle after contacting us to check availability. If the customer declines to come to our office for the car exchange and we have to move there a charge will be applied which will be depended on the location of the car.

For each damage that may happen to the car the customer is also being charged 40€ for the damage procession.

Vehicle replacement

In the event of an accident, your vehicle will be replaced by a vehicle of the same or higher category within 24 hours. In case the damage of the car is because of the renter negligence the company has the right not to replace the car.

Pets

In case you want to carry your pet with you, you have to use a pet transport box. Damages inside the vehicle from pets are not covered by any insurance and must be paid. Also renters must pay for cleaning the seats, which costs 80€.

Accidents

In the event of an accident (collision, fire, theft, etc.) the customer must notify the car rental company immediately in order to receive instructions on how to handle the situation. If you can not contact our company, you should contact the police(the telephone number is the following: 100). If the driver or any of the passengers is injured you should also inform the police/ambulance. In case the other party involved in the accident leaves, take a photo or write down the license plate. If the renter fails to provide the report to our company then he/she is obliged to pay for repair costs of any damage caused to the rented vehicle.
